In 2026, more subsidies are available for making your home more sustainable than ever before. In this guide, you will find all current subsidies, exact amounts, and application procedures. Updated on 1 June 2026.

ISDE 2026: The Most Important Subsidy for Homeowners

The Investment Subsidy Sustainable Energy (ISDE) is the central subsidy scheme of the Dutch government for homeowners. In 2026, the total budget amounts to €500 million. The application is submitted via Mijn RVO using DigiD authentication.

Heat pump subsidy 2026

The ISDE subsidy for heat pumps is calculated based on a base amount, the capacity, and an energy label bonus:

  • Base amount: €1.025 per installation
  • Per kW capacity: €225
  • Energy label bonus (A+++): €200 extra
  • Minimum subsidy: €500
  • Maximum air-to-water heat pump: €2.900
  • Maximum ground-to-water heat pump: €4.500

An average air-to-water heat pump of 5 kW with an A+++ energy label yields: €1.025 + (5 × €225) + €200 = €2.350 subsidy.

Insulation subsidy 2026

For insulation measures, a subsidy applies per square metre. Important: if you implement two or more insulation measures within 24 months, the amounts are doubled.

Insulation measure Subsidy per m² With combination bonus (×2)
Cavity wall insulation €5,25 €10,50
Facade insulation (exterior) €20,25 €40,50
Floor insulation €5,50 €11,00

Calculation example: 60 m² cavity wall insulation + 80 m² floor insulation within 24 months = (60 × €10,50) + (80 × €11,00) = €630 + €880 = €1.510 subsidy.

Ventilation system subsidy (new in 2026)

New in 2026: a fixed subsidy of €400 for the installation of a ventilation system. Condition: the ventilation measure must be combined with at least one insulation measure in the same application.

0% VAT on Solar Panels: A Hidden Subsidy of 21%

Although there is no direct purchase subsidy for solar panels for private individuals, a 0% VAT rate has applied since 2023 for the supply and installation of solar panels on homes. This is technically speaking a 21% subsidy — with an installation of €5,000, you save €1,050.

  • Supply and installation of solar panels on or near homes
  • Home batteries in combination with solar panels (as a single system)
  • Private individuals and small business owners for the home

⚠️ Net Metering Scheme Ends on 1 January 2027

This is the most impactful news for solar panel owners in the Netherlands. The net metering scheme — where you can fully offset electricity fed back into the grid against your consumption — definitively ends on 1 January 2027.

Until 31 December 2026 From 1 January 2027
Exported electricity 100% offset against consumption Minimum 50% of the basic supply tariff
Financial benefit Full value Approx. 50-60% of supply price
Impact on payback period 6-8 years 8-12 years (depending on tariff)

Conclusion: those who install solar panels in 2026 will still benefit from the full year with 100% net metering and all future years under the new scheme. The payback period has never been more favourable.

ISDE Applications: Step-by-Step

  1. Check if you are eligible: You must be a homeowner. Tenants are not eligible for ISDE.
  2. Choose a certified installer: The installer must be certified. Always ask for an installation certificate.
  3. Have the measure installed: The installation must take place before the application.
  4. Submit the application via Mijn RVO: Go to rvo.nl, log in with DigiD and follow the instructions.
  5. Upload the required documents: Invoice from the installer, proof of installation, technical specifications.
  6. Receive the subsidy: RVO usually processes applications within 13 weeks. Payment to your bank account number.

Please note: the application deadline differs per measure — for a heat pump or solar water heater you must apply within 3 months of the installation date; for insulation measures you have 24 months after carrying out the (first) measure.
